With New Year’s resolutions not far away, this is a good time to begin thinking about new goals and new goals begin with gratitude.Let’s face it, Thanksgiving is the time to be grateful and give thanks for what you have. My Grandmother used to say, "If you have your health, you have
everything."With training for a marathon, I think we can claim good health. So let’s start there and open our minds to new possibilities for the future. This week, enjoy dining with family and friends
and eating a few cookies at parties, but remember to maintain moderation. Many people think we endurance athletes can eat anything, but actually the opposite holds true. We need to eat healthy in order to perform well. And if you have to say no to a second slice of pumpkin pie, you can always say, "Thanks, I can’t, I’m in training for the Los Angeles Marathon."That will shake some heads. We've included a podcast below for more tips on eating through the holidays! If you're Turkey Trotting on Thursday, continue this week to build, rather than taper. While everyone benefits from at least a two-week taper before an “A” race, a Turkey Trot - 5K or 10K - can be a fun “B” race. The race can replace your Threshold (T-Pace) mid-week workout. Simply switch the two. While we usually take a day off in the days before a race - it's not necessary for a fun run. You decide. Yes, we will have LARR this weekend in all locations (and throughout the holidays). Not everyone will be there, but that’s okay.Hope you can make it. With gratitude! Have an inspired workout!
