COACH DAVID'S TIP: SANTA MONICA CLASSIC THIS WEEKEND

The Santa Monica Classic is here! The race is sold out, but spectators and volunteers are always welcome!

Race Weekend is filled with excitement and maybe some nerves - especially if you've never done this event. Remember that there are several significant changes to the race this year so it’s important to read the final instructions and keep an eye on social media so you know where to go.

Saturday at 9am, Coach David is leading a 10 minute “shake out run” in Santa Monica at the Totem Pole (park for free on nearby streets). While only 10 minutes, this workout at race pace can boost your fitness - plus you can connect with Coach David and other LARR members.

Afterwards, head to the new packet pick up location on the Third Street Promenade (between Broadway and Santa Monica Blvd) to pick up your bib and shirt. Coach David will be there from 10am to 2pm so stop by and ask questions.

Sunday at 6:30am, LARR members will meet at the Visitor’s Kiosk by the new start line location (near the familiar finish line location on Ocean). This meeting spot is on the grassy area overlooking the ocean. Look for the LARR Flag. Wear an LARR t-shirt if you have one.

When the heat goes up the pace goes down - read the race weather advisory here. While the course has changed from last year and is slightly faster (read about it here) please keep in mind that it is going to be HOT so hydrate well and slow down if you need to – a PR is not worth risking your health and safety.
