COACH DAVID'S TIP: CHOOSE SHOES THAT ARE RIGHT FOR YOU!

It’s week 13 and this is a Taper Week, meaning nearly half the volume of work. This is a great time for recovery and assessing how you are feeling. Are you noticing any nagging aches or injuries?

With less than 100 days till the LA Marathon, something to consider is your running shoes. The wrong shoe or an overworn shoe can cause problems. Choosing a shoe that is right for you is an important part of your training but with so many to choose from, finding the right one can seem overwhelming. Key factors in picking a shoe including length, width, amount of support and more - our feet change over time so what you wore 5 years ago may not be suitable today!

This week on the Online Coach Chat, LA Marathon Ambassador Hollie Sick – a previous running shoe store employee who’s personally fit about a thousand people – will talk about finding the shoes that are best for you. She’ll cover basic fit, how to know when you need a new pair, whether you should add carbon plated shoes to your holiday wish list, and more. For a preview on the topic, check out her blog post on the LA Marathon site.

This Saturday is our annual LARR Meet Up at Dodger Stadium. Our new ASICS rep Jenny will be joining us with shoes you can demo so arrive a little early to try a pair during your run.

Optimum Nutrition and Electrolit will also be on site sampling, and we’ve got a Recovery Zone with Evolution PT, LA Sports Massage, and Dr Jessica. Plus we’ve having a Canned Food Drive to support Grace Resources in Lancaster. Find all the details below.

Have an inspired workout!

David Levine
LARR Head Coach

P.S. YES, we will have a Sunday LARR group in Balboa Park. We hope to see many of you at Dodger Stadium, but we know many people count on the Sunday option and we will be there!!

Evolution PT therapists demonstrate simple exercises you can work into your routine for big results.
